QR Code Systems

qr codes

A QR code is almost a look-alike of a bar code but different  functionality. The QR carries a digital URL that can be accessed by scanning it through a smartphone.  Today, QR codes are incorporated everywhere including tickets, passes, table tents, gift cards etc. Covid has forced many restaurants to replace menus with QR codes so people have become very accustomed to scanning and using QR codes to access data.

museum visitors

For museum visitors to access these QR codes all they will need is to have an internet connection which will be provided for free by the museum (via free Wifi throughout the museum floors) . Using their smartphone they will simply scan the QR code which will redirect them to an audio file allowing them  to listen to an audio description of the artefact being viewed.  The QR code turns the visitor’s smartphone into an audio guide without the museum having to invest in expensive capital equipment.

info access

Rather than a distraction, the QR code allows visitors to access additional interesting info about those objects that interest them most. This also allows visitors to explore the museum at their own pace.
